ANNMARIE GENIUSZ
Annmarie Geniusz is a professional, full time artist who works in many mediums. She is best known for her large scale chalk murals at festivals. But she is also known for crop art, pen and ink botanical illustrations, indigenous heritage illustrations and stained glass art.
She has been working at national level chalk art festivals for several years. She loves that her work at chalk art festivals involves traveling to new communities and states. She is inspired by new landscapes, wildlife, and unique cultural experiences of wherever she finds herself.
She recognizes that each new medium she takes on inspires her working new directions across all her artistic disciplines. For this reason, she is never afraid to try a new art form. For example, she sees that chalk art inspires the use of more bold, full color images. Crop art inspires attention to detail and teaches her patience. Illustration gives her encouragement to academically study subjects and learn.
She graduated suma cum laude, with a B.A.-H in Studio Art and Geology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She has completed art residencies through the Science Museum of Minnesota and internationally at the Chateau Kalpak art festival of Sarkoy, Terirăg, Turkey. Her work can currently be viewed in person at Canvas Convergence gallery in the Twin Cities, Lizards Art Gallery and Framing in Duluth, and Alt Creative craft/art shop of Duluth, Minnesota. Follow her Instagram for the most up to date locations for her temporary chalk art murals.
She is a Canadian-American indigenous artist of Cree-Metis descent, who currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her hobbies include hiking and birding. She is married with a fine fleet of feline children.
