ANNMARIE GENIUSZ

Annmarie Geniusz is an interdisciplinary artist/illustrator. She is best known recently for her botanical illustrations, and large scale chalk murals at festivals. She has been working at regional chalk art festivals for four summers now, spanning four states. Her work often involves whimsical characters and narrative inspired scenes. She draws inspiration from her long history as a conservation volunteer, her hiking addiction, and her love of sci-fi/fantasy.

She graduated suma cum laude, with a B.A. in Studio Art and Geology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She received art training at the University of Montana-Missoula, and the University of Alaska- Fairbanks, as well as at the Memphis College of Art, and the Milwaukee Art Institute. Her current volunteer work includes assisting with set up/planning for Duluth All Souls Night, and as the Art Coordinator for Wussow’s Concert Cafe.

She is a Canadian-American indigenous artist of Cree-Metis descent, who has called Duluth, Minnesota home for 16 years. She grew up in Wisconsin. She is married with a fine fleet of feline children.

CHALK ART

Annmarie enjoys the larger scale, social and more public format of chalk art work. The temporary nature of the medium is an entertaining departure from her usual glasswork.

STAINED GLASS

Stained glass allows Annmarie to turn her illustrations into more substantial, permanent decorations for the home or business. She currently works on stained glass projects out of her home glass studio.

PERMANENT MURALS

Annmarie has recently started working with more permanent murals. This is a new direction for her work.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Annmarie’s illustrations have been published in international botanical journals, textbooks, & university publication texts. Her comic work is known locally through poster art and local news publications.
